Why Board and Train With Us?

Although Dori Dog Training offers private sessions to remedy most behavior modification issues, experience has taught us that removing a dog from their environment, rehabilitating them, and reintegrating them with new boundaries, manners, structure, and commands is a surefire method for correcting even the most dangerous, and stressful behaviors.

For that reason, Dori has designed his own 5-star board and train programs, catering to dogs who need both foundation work and behavior modification. Our lifetime support guarantee, available under certain circumstances, will ensure that your investment does not go to waste with free follow-up training for the rest of your dog’s life.

What Will My Dog Learn?

The results of all board and train programs are generally the same: to teach your dog how to be calm and confident both indoors and outdoors, on leash and off leash, around as many distracting and triggering stimuli as possible. We aim to eliminate separation anxiety and confinement anxiety in all dogs that stay with us. Dori has never had a dog that has not been cured of separation anxiety during a 6-week program, with the exception of 1 dog who was later diagnosed with a serious neurological issue by a vet. Whether or not the dog stays free of separation and confinement anxiety after training is 100% environmentally dependent. Dori will advise on how to keep your dog calm forever.

Your dog will be expected to master basic commands such as sit, stay, down, and come- both on and off-leash. All commands are usually taught with a voice cue and hand signal. Whether or not each dog reaches the same level of obedience will be determined by your dog's receptiveness to training, under Dori's advice. All common domestic manners such as no jumping and no stealing food will also be addressed. Off-leash training in high-distraction environments may be included in the cost of your board and train package at the discretion of our head trainer. Be advised that all board and train results vary on a case-by-case basis, and shorter board and train programs may not include an advanced level of training.

Our programs are designed to be intensive, all-inclusive, and mentally stimulating for your dog. All dogs are worked 7 days a week with a routine consisting of socialization with other dogs, treadmill training (optional), unlimited one-on-one training with Dori as needed to meet training goals, and multiple loose leash walks outside every day. We leave no stone unturned as we expect all board and train graduates to reach service-dog level obedience standards. Those standards include being a calm, confident, and quiet dog.

Will I Be Involved in My Dog's Training?

During your dog’s board and train, you will be able to come in to our facility on a scheduled basis and work with your dog during “mid-sessions.” The amount of “mid-sessions” is up to the head trainer, but is usually 3-5 times for a 6 week board and train. It is highly beneficial to us and your dog that you are actively involved in training.

What Happens After My Dog Completes the Program?

Upon completion of the program, you will either pick your dog up from our facility, or Dori will transport your dog home, where he will continue to make sure that you are able to command and communicate with your dog properly. A take-home session is included with all board and train programs, although it may be held at our facility during shorter board and trains. Transportation home is included in the cost of higher-end packages, up to 180 miles from our facility, and is available for greater distances with an additional time and travel fee.

At this point, in your dog’s new and exciting training experience, you would have already been coached on commanding your dog through obedience, as well as how to deal with situations where your dog would have previously reacted negatively. You will be taught how to control your dog in every situation you can think of.

How Long Will My Dog Be With You?

We aim to eliminate all behavioral issues during our board and train programs, but we do allow clients to decide the length of training. We currently offer the following board and train packages. A lifetime support guarantee is included if you enroll in the recommended board and train program for your dog, typically 3 weeks for obedience cases with no anxiety or reactivity, 6 weeks for reactive cases, and 9 weeks for severe bite histories. We will gladly accept dogs for less time than Dori's recommended board and train stay, but that means opting out of our lifetime support guarantee.

How Does Your Lifetime Guarantee Work?

Our lifetime support guarantee is included when the recommended program length, which will be determined during the behavior assessment, is purchased. You may purchase a board and train program that is less than the recommended length, but it will not include our lifetime support guarantee, or free follow up training.

If your dog does qualify for our lifetime support guarantee, that may include video and phone calls, one-on-one training at our facility, or a remedial board and train stay.

Do Prices Include the Cost of Training Tools?

No, all training tools used will incur an additional fee.

Payment options:

  • 50% due at scheduling
  • 50% due during board and train drop off or completion
  • 3% credit/debit transaction fee (not included)
